Walmart shoots VA – latest: Andre Bing ‘targeted’ specific casualties in Chesapeake rampage, witness says

Police spokesperson provides update on Walmart shooting

A chilling “manifesto” has been found on the cellphone of Walmart gunman Andre Bing where he laid out his motive for the mass shooting in Virginia that killed six colleagues and injured at least four other victims ahead of Thanksgiving.

Memorials and candlelight vigils were held in the Chesapeake area on Thursday to honor the victims.

President Biden said on Thursday that the shooting, as well as the massacre at an LGTBQ+ club in Colorado Springs over the weekend, underlined the need to ban “sick” assault weapons with no social value.

Witnesses described how the horrific events unfolded late Tuesday when Bing opened fire in the employee’s break room as investigators tried to determine a motive.

A law enforcement source told local media that Bing was “upset” about a recent change in employment status and complained that he was being “harassed” by colleagues. A former colleague also said he was paranoid about the government watching him and didn’t like being recorded. A witness claims she saw him attacking certain people during the attack.

There have been 609 mass shootings this year

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 609 mass murders in the US this year, part of the country’s 39,843 total deaths from gun violence.

“Half of us didn’t believe it was real until some of us saw all the blood on the floor,” she added.

Another colleague, Jessie Wilczewski, told the network that she could have run from the shots, but chose to stay in the shop while her colleagues lived out their final moments.

“I could have run out that door… and I stayed. I stayed so they wouldn’t be alone,’ she said.

An in-depth look at the cause of the Chesapeake Walmart shooting

Police said they had discovered a sort of “manifesto” on Andre Bing’s mobile phone, in which he complained about unspecified changes in his employment status, and what he called other staff harassing him about it. According to one report, police found close to his body a list of employees he planned to attack.

As America celebrated Thanksgiving Day, police in Chesapeake, Virginia, were searching for clues to the mass shooting as a Walmart store, an incident whose horror reverberated across the country, another shocking mass shooting that took place in the most mundane of environments.

In Nantucket, Massachusetts, a vacationing Joe Biden was asked about the incident and vowed to take action to control the sale of semi-automatic weapons.

“The idea that we’re not enforcing red flag laws… is ridiculous,” he said. “The idea that we are still allowing semi-automatic weapons to be bought is sick. Just sick. It has no, no social redemptive value. Zero. No. There’s no reason for it except profit for the gun manufacturers.
