“Squid Game” star Oh Young Soo charged with sexual assault + actor denies allegations

“Squid Game” star Oh Young Soo has been charged with indecent assault.

On November 25, it was reported that the Seongnam branch of the Suwon Prosecutor’s Office had charged Oh Young Soo without custody on charges of indecent assault the day before. Oh Young Soo is accused of inappropriately touching a woman’s body in mid-2017.

The police received the victim’s complaint in December 2021 and forwarded the accompanying documents with the indictment verdict to higher authorities in February 2022. At the request of the Public Prosecution Service for additional investigation, the police heard the witnesses and tested the advice of the lawyers and decided not to transfer the case in April.

Since the victim appealed the police decision, the prosecution has since re-examined the case. During the prosecution’s investigation, Oh Young Soo is said to have denied the allegations.

Oh Young Soo responded via JTBC, “I just held her hand to show the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but that doesn’t mean I’m admitting the allegations.” Nevertheless, the prosecution ruled that they had collected evidence to support the harassment allegation and refer the case to court.

Oh Young Soo appeared in the Netflix series “Squid Game” as Oh Il Nam, who suffers from a brain tumor, and won the Best Supporting Actor Award in the TV category at the Golden Globe Awards in the United States in January this year.
