Save $600 on the 48-inch LG UltraGear 4K OLED gaming monitor with this Black Friday deal

Amazon just slashed the price on the 48-inch LG 48GP900-B 4K OLED gaming monitor by a whopping $600 for Black Friday. This monitor was released earlier in 2022 for a starting MSRP of $1500. Previously, it would have been a better deal to just grab an LG C1 or Evo C2 OLED TV and use it as a PC monitor. However, at this price point, the roles are reversed. Currently, it is cheaper to buy this 48″ OLED gaming monitor than the TV variants. If you plan to use this display as your desktop monitor, the choice is now crystal clear.

Edition 2022

LG UltraGear 48GP900 48″ 4K (3840×2160) OLED Gaming Monitor

The 48GP900-B is the first LG Ultragear gaming monitor with an OLED panel. This is a similar WOLED panel to the one you’ll find in the 48-inch LG C1 OLED TV, but there are a few key differences. Instead of the semi-gloss coating found on the OLED TV, the 48GP900 has an anti-glare low-reflective coating that’s undoubtedly better suited for close-up monitor use. It also has DisplayPort connectivity and lacks the built-in Smart TV interface. It does carry over the HDMI 2.1 ports with [email protected] compatibility for PS5 and Xbox Series X owners as well as VRR and G-SYNC support. In addition, the 120 Hz refresh rate can be overclocked to 138 Hz when used as a PC monitor. Finally, if aesthetics are important to you, there’s subtle RGB backlighting on the back of the monitor that isn’t present on the OLED TVs.

Why choose an OLED gaming monitor?

When it comes to high-end gaming monitors, there are so many options to choose from. But one thing is for sure, you can’t go wrong with OLED. OLED screens blow away any IPS, VA, TN monitor in terms of raw image quality. They have the best contrast ratio and dynamic range thanks to their near-infinite black levels and the ability to turn individual LEDs on and off. They also have near-instant response times, so ghosting is a thing of the past. Until recently, the biggest downside to OLED monitors was their premium price. However, this Amazon Black Friday deal bucks this trend. The LG 48GP900-B is actually cheaper than several similarly sized traditional LCD gaming monitors.
