Qatar vs. Senegal, USA vs. England, Netherlands vs. Ecuador

The second round of the group stage matches of the 2022 World Cup starts on Friday. Have you heard that the USMNT is playing?

Of course you did. The United States is a major underdog for England after the Three Lions destroyed Iran to open their World Cup campaign. A loss probably dooms the United States’ chances of moving forward. A result is absolutely necessary. Can they get it?

It’s hard to have much confidence in Qatar after what we saw on Sunday. Ecuador dominated the game and more than deserved the victory. Senegal is already without Sadio Mane and also seems to be without midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate. He is a big part of Senegal’s midfield. But even without Mane and Kouyate, Senegal should have enough to take the Qataris out of the knockout round and set up a crucial game with Ecuador on Tuesday.

It took the Dutch over 80 minutes to score a goal against Senegal and then added a second for good measure. Given the way the first round of group matches went, both teams could be content with a draw and remain tied for first place and control their own path to the knockout stages. We’re going for the draw. But if you’re brutal, a draw and under parlay could be worth the risk.

Bet this game with your head, not your heart. England are a deserved favorite at -175 after their performance against Iran. If you want to bet on the US, we recommend taking a combo bet of a win in the US and a draw on +135. Keep in mind that a draw is a very good result for the USMNT, especially if Wales doesn’t beat Iran. As you can see from the odds, England is the safer bet here and would effectively end the United States’ chances of advancing. If you want to be optimistic, hedge with that combo bet instead of going with one result.
