The Melbourne Storms have come away with a dominating 32-14 win against the Titans thanks to a massive performance from Cameron Munster.

The Maroons star was moved to fullback in a late transfer from Craig Bellamy, which proved to be a masterstroke after the playmaker scored his second hat-trick of his career.

Harry Grant’s vision opened the scoring for Melbourne and found winger Xavier Coates in space to score untouched.

Moments later, Munster scored his first, flying high to land a Jahrome Hughes kick as the Storm piled on the points.

“This is ominous,” said Dan Ginnane as Melbourne held a 10-point lead.

But Holbrook’s men were able to retaliate with two rapid-fire attempts at Beau Fermor and Herman Ese’ese.

“What is going on?” said Dan Ginnan.

“It wasn’t luxurious, but it was strong and powerful from the Titans,” said Shane Flanagan.

But just before half-time, Munster crossed again, dancing past Gold Coast’s left defences.

After halftime, AJ Brimson put in a good kick for Brian Kelly to cross, but their joy would end there, with Munster scoring his third to confirm dominance.

“He makes it look effortless, the second hat-trick of his career and a timely one,” says Dan Ginnane.

The young Tonumaipea also scored a late try after a scrum after a 1,483 day hiatus from the NRL.

Jahrome Hughes also remained off the field after the break after a shoulder injury.

Cameron Munster has scored again to complete a stunning hat-trick.

Storm’s fullback held the ball up and danced past the Titans’ defenders to score his third try of the game.

“He makes it look effortless, the second hat-trick of his career and a timely one,” says Dan Ginnane.

AJ Brimson delivered a pinpoint grubber to open the scoring in the second half and find Brian Kelly.

Jahrome Hughes remained off the field after half-time due to a shoulder injury, while Tyran Wishart fell in the half.

“Suddenly the Titans are on the move,” Dan Ginnane said.

Titans forward Herman Ese’ese scored his side’s second try and charged on a short pass from AJ Brimson to make a comeback.

“What is going on?” said Dan Ginnan.

“It wasn’t luxurious, but it was strong and powerful,” said Shane Flanagan.

But Storm Cannon Cameron Munster stopped Holbrook’s side in their tracks and cut through to score his second.

After a late switch to fullback, Cameron Munster crossed over for the second try of the evening to make it 10-0.

Halfback Jahrome Hughes put in a cross-field kick and found Munster flying high to score untouched.

“I think he will like the challenge as a fullback,” said Shane Flanagan.

“This is ominous,” said Dan Ginnane.

Just moments later, backrower Kenny Bromwich crossed for a four-pointer of his own before Titans cannon Beau Fermor scored the Titans first.

Storm debutant David Nofoaluma is desperately close to scoring just seven minutes into the Titans game, before returning Xavier Coates crosses the line.

After arriving in Melbourne last week, the 28-year-old nearly opened his scoring for his new club.

Gold Coast winger Jojo Fifita swiped at the veteran’s hands to free the ball.

But just moments later, Harry Grant saw winger Xavier Coates find his man in space to score untouched.

“Finally Melbourne has it,” said Dan Ginnane.

“Just too good, Harry Grant, he knew he had it,” said Shane Flanagan.

Craig Bellamy is ready to unleash his new look backline against a struggling Titans outfit.

The young Tonumaipea returns to the NRL after a 1483 day hiatus, having last played in first-class competition for the Gold Coast in 2020.

Meanwhile, mid-season recruit David Nofoaluma will make his debut for his new club on the wing alongside Cameron Munster who made a late move from the halves.

Cooper Johns is five-eighth, while Tyran Wishart has moved to the bank.

Holbrook’s Titans have struggled so far in 2022, but the Gold Coast side will be looking to young gunner Jayden Campbell to spark from the back.

AJ Brimson also makes another half with Tanah Boyd, who will play in the number 7 jersey.

As it stands, the Titans are last on the league ladder, taking just three wins in 2022 – and with another defeat at the hands of the Storm, they could be even further from the pack.

15th Place Tigers will take on the Knights, who are in 14th place, and with a win they can close a two-win gap in the wooden spoon race.
