Batgirl director Adil El Arbi has shared an image of Leslie Grace’s Batgirl coming face to face with Michael Keaton’s Batman.

The photo, shared on Adil El Arbi’s Instagram story, shows Grace and Keaton in their full costumes, standing on the gloomy streets of Gotham, accompanied by their director.

The now-cancelled film is said to have featured Keaton as Wayne, a revival of his role from the Tim Burton era of Batman films. This would be one of two separate occasions when he would wear the hood for the DCEU; he will also play Batman in the upcoming Flash movie.

Warner Bros. officially canceled Batgirl earlier this week. It was supposed to be a smaller DC movie and produced on a smaller budget than Justice League’s, but now it won’t even see the light of day on streaming services, let alone a theatrical release. As such, this photo is a rare look at both the Batgirl we’ll likely never see, and Keaton’s return to his iconic role.
