An eyewitness to actress Anne Heche’s life-threatening car accident in Los Angeles today shared new details about the crash with Fox News Digital.
It has also been revealed that Heche had joked about drinking vodka with wine hunters in an episode of her podcast that was published online the day of the crash — and has since been deleted from the internet.
Heche complains about ‘very bad day’ on podcast
Heche complained that she was having a “bad day” and told listeners that she drank vodka and wine on the latest episode of her podcast, which was published online just hours before her crash and has since been removed from the internet.
It is not clear when the podcast was recorded. She and co-host Heather Duffy both talk about drinking free vodka provided by them by a podcast sponsor and washing it down with white wine, while Heche says he’s had a “very bad day.”
“I don’t know what happened, sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them [but] some days, those not good, really bad days, and some days just end like this,” Heche told listeners.
“Sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them, but you know some days will be,” Mom says. Some days are not good, really bad days,’ she continued.
Witness describes ‘horrific’ scenes
A witness to Heche’s crash, Lynne Bernstein, described the crash as “horrific” and said he could “barely breathe” when he tried to help Heche from the blue Mini Cooper she was driving.
“The smoke just got way too intense. We could barely breathe,” Bernstein said. “It was hard to see because of the smoke.”
Bernstein said he and his wife witnessed a car speeding down their street before his wife heard Heche’s car crash into their neighbor’s house.
Bernstein noted that his neighbor, Dave Manpearl, asked Heche if she was okay and she replied that she wasn’t. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene, asked neighbors if anyone was in the house, and alerted first responders that a woman was inside.
The tenant of the house left her house from a side room and was “shocked” by what had happened. “Get out of my house,” the tenant told the group of people outside her house before realizing that a car had hit her house.
Dave took the tenant’s two dogs to his house. Bernstein noted that the tenant was “perfectly fine, thank goodness” after the explosive crash.
Bernstein shared with Fox News Digital that Heche was “conscious”, but he was unaware of how “coherent” she was after the crash.
Manpearl exited the car as the flames overtook him.
“I was sure the driver was dead,” he told the Daily Mail “she had burned out. It took firefighters at least 30 minutes to put out the flames, get the car out and pull her out of the car.” .”
Heche crashed into a home in Mar Vista, California on Friday, starting a fire and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to emergency services.
A resident was in the home at the time of the accident and was released unharmed. However, Heche suffered burns and was “conscious and breathing” when she was placed on a stretcher.
A second witness spoke to Fox News Digital outside the homeowner’s home, where the damage from the crash is clearly visible.
The crash “shocked the whole neighborhood,” Yaroslav Borets told Fox News Digital. “Something we will remember for a long time.” Borets noted that his neighborhood is “not the friendly neighborhood everyone knows next door”.
“This is generally a safe place,” he said, explaining that these types of accidents are not common in the Mar Vista neighborhood.
Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told Fox News Digital that the person involved in the accidents was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Los Angeles Fire Department shared a statement that the vehicle had a single occupant when it rammed into a two-story house built in 1952.
Fifty-nine firefighters took 65 minutes to access, contain and completely extinguish the persistent flames in the badly damaged structure and rescue a female adult found in the vehicle and sent to LAFD Paramedics in critical condition. has been brought to an area hospital,” the statement said. said.
No other injuries have been reported and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to FOX 11.
Heche, who has admitted to having used drugs and alcohol in the past, famously dated Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, the NY Post reported.
After their relationship ended, a shocked and disoriented Heche drove to Fresno and knocked on a stranger’s door. She was hospitalized for a short time after the incident.
Heche has said in previous interviews that she was abused by her father, Don Heche, from the time she was a toddler until the age of 12. Don Heche died of AIDS in 1983 and Anne has said he led a double life as a closet gay.
Heche’s brother Nathan died three months after their father’s death in a car accident, which Anne believed was suicide.
