American actress Anne Heche has reportedly been seriously injured after her car crashed into a house in Los Angeles and caught fire.

According to NBCLA, the driver was speeding down a residential street — and the blue Mini Cooper drove 30 feet into a two-story house in Mar Vista.

According to local media reports, the 53-year-old suffered severe burns.

Officers believe the car may have hit a curb and was 2 feet off the ground when it crashed through the front of the property.

TMZ footage showed Heche driving the same vehicle that was later heavily damaged at the scene.

The crash caused a major fire in the property and it took 65 minutes for 59 firefighters “to access, contain and completely extinguish the persistent flames in the badly damaged structure”.

A woman was found in the car and taken to hospital, according to the LA Fire Department. Although the building is now “uninhabitable”, the homeowner was unharmed.

A neighbor told NBCLA, “The house had tons of smoke. I think they used the crane to move the car to get the driver out. It was crazy.”

Heche is known for her roles in films like Psycho, Donnie Brasco and Cedar Rapids – and she was previously in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres between 1997 and 2000.
